To temper yourself isn't a sign of weakness. To moderate your anger, to quell your rage, to know yourself isn't an indication that you live too much in some surreal self-adored state of wanton perfection. It is to live confidently and surely with the understanding that you are, and you become, and that you are NEVER ALONE! - WD Allan

To live a life based upon lies, is to build your house on a foundation of sand. Eventually such structures faulter and fall to ashes. Life isn't a house of cards being dealt and reissued day after day. Life and all of existence is a mansion wrought of the finest materials, created and re-created inch by inch, yard by yard, and drafted from the grandest of visions. YOURS! - WD Allan

Many devoted of spiritualists in history were willing to risk reputation and more to express what they were confident was extant truth. "BE" your existence! Don't allow others to steer your beliefs for you. - WD Allan

A life lived in synergy with spiritual belief will compliment one better than a life lived in a vacuum of spiritual belief. Think of the latter as living on an island with no resources. Think of it as reaching your hand out in a crowd for help and receiving none in return. Think of it as existing within a blank shell with no other measure of the self to help tack its way through the seas of life! - WD Allan

Many times while addressing various groups I've related the time that I crossed paths with someone who was so obsessed with his "problems" one day that he had meandered his way through past noontime without even noticing that the sun was out, the clouds were few, the birds were singing and the totality of things at that moment in the universe did seem oh so calm and peaceful, to most other people. When I had asked him what he thought of that fine day, he responded, "what fine day?" He later admitted that he hadn't even noticed that the weather was so beautiful and the general mood surrounding him was peaceful and positive beyond prose! His personal mind had become so occupied with what he later also admitted wasn't all that problematic after all and he had become a little bit embarrassed that he had turned it all into such a mountain. A lesson learned in life for sure, if only for a little while. Keep things in proper perspective! - WD Allan

In my youth I can clearly recall once thinking, "if only I had a way to show others, how exciting and how beautiful the world is through my eyes!" No kidding, I really did think this, and in many ways I never really stopped thinking like this. Its probably why I now do what I do with my life. In those times when I was teased by other kids, I recall thinking that they too had parents who loved them like mine loved me, so I never could hate them. I was just confused as most kids are with the actions of others that I never truly understood. In our world today I don't think its all that different to kid or adult. If you have trouble noticing the beauty in the world, try stopping for awhile and looking inward for the keys to your perceptions. They might just open up a world that is profound in its beauty. - WD Allan

As forgiveness is one of the purest of spiritual acts between one another, a great spiritual revelation that usually follows it is to the understanding that people are truly connected with one another in integral ways. Its not by chance that people generally feel better, feel somewhat relieved and are better tuned to the energy of life when in the presence of others, even when they might believe otherwise. An old saying is that "many hands makes for light work!" In a spiritual sense, many souls makes for the fortification of the energy of existence. Don't steer yourself from being around others, but rather avoid steering yourself to a state of unproductive alone-ness. - WD Allan

The very wise prose spoken below can also be versed in terms of the mindset of the purest of thinking of meditation as well. In fact there are those who would say that prayer is meditation directed towards the Great Spirit instead of an inner-directed focus of ones attention. Either way, and more in fact, the continuous conversation that takes place since the moment of our birth up to the moment of our passing beyond the veil that stands between this physical existence to the other side is a conversation that never ends. It is a song, a verse, a seamless and a never ending discussion that attenuates the soul of our being in such a way that it enacts and validates the very moment of creation itself. Just because one is living ones daily life, busy with the actions of the moment of the day, walking another boardwalk along the spiritual path doesn't mean that the conversation ever ends. The old saying is that God knows our prayers even before we do. Such is the nature of the seamless soulfully spiritual bond between the Great Spirit and all that encompasses the Great Spirits consciousness. From the planets and to the stars, from the smallest pebble in the forest and to the spirit that resides behind the physical eye that sees all that is, there is nothing that is unknown or ever unspoken between ourselves and the Great Spirit. The act of verbally or intimately stating it in some way is not for the Great Spirits benefit, it is for our own. Something to really think on huh? - WD Allan

"All work and no play makes Jack a..." well you know how the rest goes. Everyone has their focus in life and their own personal schedules that they follow on any given day. When however these schedules begin to become too skewed towards any one end of that great pie-chart of existence, you know, what some of the more notable "Gestalt" minded thinkers refer to as those separate areas of personal development, one becomes thrown out of whack in many ways. Ones vocational self, ones recreational self, ones educative self, ones family self and so on exhibit this Gestalt chart of the self. Each slice of the pie its been said tenders some attention from the overall conscious energy of the self, and when scribed into a good and complementary balance, a person more often than not settles themselves quite well in the world. When however a soul marks all too much attention to their vocational self, or to their recreational self and so on as a sudden rule of their days, they end up out of balance and then they function as if they are out of balance when its not necessary to do so. Yes, times and personal destiny sometimes calls for such attention. Other times however some skew themselves out of balance through an attendance towards personal glory, personal pain, personal anxiety, personal gain, or yes, even personal happiness. A life lived in some circumspect balance is a life tuned for the ascension of a living conscious awareness of the self and what lies beyond the self. Seek some balance in all things in your life and the return will be an eventual balance of the universe in return. A good goal, yes? - WD Allan

Several times I've quoted Mr. John Wayne and his so eloquent citation on our tomorrows and our yesterdays. He said: "Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday." I forever recall Mr. Wayne's words and try to place into my path the thoughtfulness that with the wisdom of what we learned from our successes and our mistakes in our yesterdays, we all inevitably do learn to hope for some wisdom in order to craft a much better tomorrow. It really is worth a thought or two you know! - WD Allan

Its been said that sometimes the wisest of words ever to be expressed, were those that weren't expressed at all or in the very least, those chosen in thoughtful reservation. Everyone has bad moments and good ones, bright moments and dark ones, productive moments and unproductive ones. It really doesn't matter how one sifts through the entirety of ones life and of ones prayers. The true calling and presence of ones heart is already known to the Great Spirit for it was prescribed by the Great Spirit. He understands that anger comes at times, happiness comes at times, as does sadness, despair and through it all an eventual global understanding of the nature of all of the experience of existence. The old adage is that ones prayers are known even before they are spoken, and this is one of the great truisms to all of existence. In those moments when you believe you have been forgotten, or you believe you have been forsaken, remember that you are never alone and would never be forgotten. You could never be forgotten or disconnected from the love of the Great Spirit, for the binding ties that makes existence itself possible is manifested from the love that created all of this to begin with. That energy is within all of us, in all things, and binds all things together. That energy is you. If you doubt this for a moment, search within yourself for awhile to re-confirm it. We all need some reminding every now and then! One of the common problems nowadays is that too many choose not to remember at all.- WD Allan

Sometimes the road to the fulfillment of your dreams is one wrought with bumps and valleys, potholes and cracks and sore backs and sore spirits. Sometimes the road to your dreams seems calm and steady. Sometimes the road to your dreams seems an arduous journey. Sometimes the road to your dreams might at times leave you with the feelings that your all alone for a long while, with only your faith and your will to see your journey progress. One thing above all else though! The road to your dreams is one that you should never, ever give up on. Especially when you are set in your commitment to both see it through. Especially when it benefits the spiritual vitality of others along the way. Don't ever give up! Because there are those right by your side who never give up on you! This is what a positive spirituality is all about! - WD Allan

The interpretation of what's "best" or not tends to color the fabric of perception eloquent or bitter, not so much depending upon the understanding of a universal hand that guides the universe, but rather according to ones own individual needs, or ones own wants and the living desires that steers ones own boat. Given this, the world itself has an infinite interpretation of the word "best". The shouldering of the weight of existence however is another matter and to this we can easily avail ourselves to our fellows in the best of times as well as the not-so-best of their times. Sometimes the difficult part is in remembering that we ourselves are the ones in need, and at some juncture or two along our way, we might best sometimes recall that we don't have to shoulder the weight of our own existence all alone. Don't fear including a trusted other in your experience. It just might make your day in so many ways! - WD Allan

Its an amazing bit of philosophical insight that crossed the mind of one so long ago when it became apparent that if one set to the winds of the sea of life the vessel of determination, the manifest guidance of that vessel would be attended to regardless of the heading we witnessed initially. So many do acknowledge that ancient rule that "everything works out the way its supposed to regardless of ones own maneuverings". This is a true axiom of existence! One that if it was recalled more often, it might just tone down the tensions and anxiety levels of so many who as a habit of life have learned to micro-manage everything from their coffee habits to their eyelid flutters. Eventually we all must learn to set our sights to the grander picture of life and of existence and at least to some degree, to let things unfold as they were meant to after we've launched our efforts. - WD Allan

In today's world we are always oh-so busy! Run, run, run and then run some more, the wheel never stops, and yes, its designed this way by the individual! So much in fact that from sunrise to sunset there is hardly enough time to focus oneself onto the matters of ones physical existence, not to mention the matters of attending to ones own inner soulfully spiritual self and to the overall effects. Its no wonder why some react so adversely to the word meditation and inner soulfulness the way that they do. It would mean stopping the wheel of spiritual rage in its tracks and truly attending to what's inside and turning away what's outside for awhile. Scary thought sometimes! To set aside some evening time, or some morning time just to yourself, with a lit candle, some music or better yet, in ABSOLUTE tranquil quiet where nothing can distract you from you, is a wonderful way to re-align your spiritual gears! Try it! You'll come to love it! - WD Allan

There's much wisdom to this you know! All too often when matters rise for attention, in some way there is a part of the self that just wants to shut down to whatever the matter is. Most peoples first reaction is or course, "why not?" Doesn't everyone want to avoid problems? Of course they do! When however something does come into your path, instead of shutting one eye and becoming all balmy and heated about whatever it is, try opening yourself up in a grounded manner with both heart and soul and then set yourself about the circus of solving your problem! Some of the greatest engineers in history have made their reputations well known by not running or hiding from a problem. Instead they used their problem solving skills to SOLVE THE PROBLEM! When Apollo 13 ran into difficulties and everyone had to improvise quickly for major life-saving solutions, they didn't run and hide, they solved the problems TOGETHER! What a concept huh? "SOLVE THE PROBLEMS TOGETHER!" Imagine what life, existence and the soulful matters of the world would then become if we all would solve the many problems all together! WOW! :) - WD Allan

There are times along the path of life when its easy to think that we've been forgotten, forsaken or left to struggle alone against the erosion of the winds. Everyone grows according to their own schedules of decision and their own universal contemplation with the forces that move existence itself. One of the most difficult things to remember sometimes is that one is never truly alone. One is never truly left out of the game-plan for the future by the Great Spirit. You may not want to hear this, but, the only one who deletes you from the "plan" of existence is "you", nobody else! Mother Theresa understood this. The Dalai Lama understands this. The great spiritual masters that are now in the past of the spiritual record of mankind all understood this. Yes, there is a bigger picture unfolding and it DOES include you and your own destiny. What you would be best remembering is that it also includes everyone else as well! It includes every soul, every spirit, everyone who is also included in the universal plan of existence and just as important as you are. The vast and unbelievably complex equation that is the conduction of all of existence would never, ever, forget anyone. Especially you! Your time is included in it all. Consider this for awhile however as you ponder your own destiny in the grand equation of existence. Perhaps the reason you feel like you have been forsaken somehow is that you have to some degree spiritually disconnected yourself from others, from the universe, from the Great Spirit and yes, even from yourself. RE-CONNECT and then set your feet upon the path of your own RE-CREATION! - WD Allan

I can recall a time when someone I knew used to be extremely critical of being a mere spectator at sports and had the same general opinion of those who didn't dive into the "real" activities of life as a whole in the same way. It was this individual's view that to constantly stand at the sidelines of life simply watching things go by was no way to live, it was in his view just existing. Much later however illness had set in and this individual had to learn the art of watching instead of diving into everything he could himself. Life has a funny way of teaching us principles of being and ways of perceiving both ourselves and the universe we inhabit in relation to ourselves. It stands as one of those perspectives of eternity where we can't always indulge ourselves into everything. Sometimes the rules of the road insist on one stepping back for awhile to appreciate the entire view of things instead of always fencing ourselves against things, face to face up at the scrimmage lines of action. Explore it, engage it, be a part of it all, YES! Forgetting to step back occasionally to simply appreciate your perspective of it all, NO! While "BE-ing", don't forget to appreciate the "BE-ing"! - WD Allan

This is truly a critical statement of BE-ing more than many I have crossed paths with lately. It really does stand as so the way that people as a whole are taught to gauge their value in the world according to how much they do, to how much they accomplish, to how much money they make, to how many toys they have in their garages and so on. That ever sought after state of "wholeness" is too often associated with how fast one moves throughout ones day instead of how one relates to who one truly is, to what one truly feels, and to what extent one processes the world around them and makes of it a part of the wholeness of the self. "You are a human being, not a human doing", I think says it MASTERFULLY! "I think therefore I am" was in the classical school understood as a wonderful insight. I do therefore I am was never a part of that axiom, unless one connects ones state of be-ing more to the movement of things in ones life instead of the state of what truly resides within! Think about it for awhile and you might see why I chose to comment on this today! - WD Allan

I can recall one day heading into a weekly managers meeting that was always scheduled at some other venue. That day was a most pleasant one as I recall. Bright, sunny and quite warm. Just one of those days that one always hopes for. The only difference was that on that day I had much on my mind right from the start. For the better part of my morning and into the noon-day I was thoughtful of none other than myself and what was occupying my essence. At the entrance to the building someone said, "what a nice day huh?" I looked up and noticed for the first time that there was not a cloud in the sky and the noontime sun was gloriously warm, just the picture of perfection! I then realized that I had so demanded all conscious activity from my spirit, that I had completely discarded from my thoughts the entire universe around me. I then stopped, took a deep breath, and reminded myself of my personal trademark quality check to the thoughts. "Was it worth it?" Was it worth the amount of time and space I was giving it on that wonderful day? Was it worth chucking every other good thing that was happening or could happen to me on that day to spend the entirety of my time focused on something that was in the end, truly trivial. That was what it was after all you know! It was all really trivial! Was it all worth it? Is it all worth it? Is it worth it? A BRILLIANT question to ask oneself! If you doubt it, try it out sometime! It works! Paste it on your desk somewhere for when you need it. - WD Allan

There is a spiritual "inertia" to the formation of the self, from moment to moment, from vision to lifetime. When you set a thought to a decision, and then the decision set into the action, a state of "BE-ing" is the inevitable result. The question is; what state of being do you seek? You see, the spiritual inertia that nudges your perception of being isn't formed at the fingertips, the tongue or the eyebrows. The spiritual inertia that nudges the movement of your thoughts becomes the spiritual inertia that is inevitably set into motion through, YOU! Once set into direction, your motion, your spiritual inertia will carry you through just fine! That is what determined faith is all about! "BE", don't avoid being. - WD Allan

The universe is a wonderfully fascinating place you know. People place themselves into the fray of life focusing on the simple things that make up ones days, and then it seems that experiential decision making has taken place somewhere by something, somehow, and the accommodation of the experience of love, hate, anger, fear or some other affective descriptor enters into the formula often leaving people with a feeling of "where did that all come from?" Frequently the last place one looks for the first derivative in that formula is within ones own manipulations that attract it into the experience. Why is it that the consideration more escapes than not, that one actually draws such toward themselves through their own being rather than the universe more frequently dropping it into peoples pathways of life? Yes, of course it comes to pass that sometimes things simply do happen. It does however take place that people craft their own courses, tear apart the paths through the forests and the jungles of their being only to eventually find themselves plopped down into the valleys of happiness and despair, love and loss, achievement and challenge and so on. Through the decisions and the actions we make every day, through the manipulations and the soulful articulations of the meaningful natures of life, we create and draw toward ourselves the fabric of the tapestry of who we are, who we were and to whom we will certainly become. Think of the responsibility of personal actions of change, instead of always relegating it to the function of some divine proportion of guilt ridden destiny. "YOU" create your destiny in life more than anything else does! When you come to accept this fact; WOW will your changes progress in the directions you want them too!- WD Allan

One of the largest causes of peoples everyday anxieties and strife is that they tend to openly welcome the ills that accompany a day with much more accepting resolve than they invite the overwhelming presence of peace, calmness and light into their lives. The cause of this is of course that most consider the presence of anxieties to be a natural thing while they also consider the entrance and the presence of light, calmness and peace to be akin to some occasional flight if not a complete rarity in life! When people then set out to "CHOOSE" to envelope themselves with calmness, peace and the light of the essence of calmness and goodwill, eventually this becomes habit, and the habit an eventual mainstay that wouldn't be given up for all of the jewels of the tower! Choose wisely! How you interpret your experience is exactly what you will engage! - WD Allan

Life nowadays really meets itself astride the gallop of the horses of commerce, the flight of the mind of busy-ness, the run of the absolutely necessary as many see it all. People meet the demands of others, feed the wants and the necessary's of everything from job to deed, from emotional want to psychological infusion, and the end product of much of it all is a depletion of one meeting ones own needs while not keeping others from meeting theirs. This last portion is the functional definition of "assertiveness"! To meet ones own needs includes ones emotional self, ones vocational self, ones spiritual self and so on and there is absolutely nothing wrong with saying the word "NO" to others in order to spend some time on YOU! Take time for yourself! Take time for your own spiritual vision of what and whom you envision yourself to be and yourself to come, and in time the demands of others and of the world will begin to draw back into their proper perspectives. Be there for you, for many others placing demands upon you are certainly doing the same for themselves! - WD Allan
